    Bio:

Kaitlyn Page is an Erie, Pennsylvania based watercolor & mixed media fine artist who enjoys exploring depth and meaning behind unity, oneness with self, psychology behind emotions and feelings, and man’s relationship/interconnectedness with the natural world. Her work has been described as being based in the surreal, psychedelia, and reality. In her own words; "I try to use these elements to create an ethereal and otherworldly realm where the metaphysical and natural world meet. I’ve always had a strong love for nature, meticulous detail, mysterious symbolism, and surrealism, which can often be found in my work."

Kaitlyn began drawing and painting around the age of 12 but never saw herself as becoming a professional artist. Becoming an artist came with time, just as most good things do. At the age of 17 she began her journey with watercolors, which has become her main medium. At this point she has been painting in watercolors for 10 years - attempting to master the medium and work with it in a way nobody has ever done before. Her unique ability to capture both realism and surrealism in the medium has gained her popularity over the years. She has shown her work all around the country, was selected as one of Erie's 40 under 40, won "Best Fine Artist" in Erie for 4 years in a row, and as of 2024 she has amassed over 600,000 followers on various platforms.

    Reflection:

This year marked my 10 year anniversary of trying the watercolor medium for the first time. In that time, I've gone through various metamorphoses within my body of work. I wanted this show to be a retrospective of the changes my work has gone through over the years. When I first picked up watercolors, I had no idea it would become my medium of choice. I was heavily inspired by other portrait artists who used the watercolor medium in a more traditional way. I started out hoping my work would be dripping with the emotion of the natural flow of watercolor. Little did I realize the power of working with a new medium in a very untraditional way. I slowly found myself moving away from the flowing, translucent pallets, and being drawn towards incorporating surreal elements with realism and symbolism. I've always been drawn to the weird, wonderful, and strange. As I've grown from a teen to an almost 30 year old adult, my work has grown with me. I now find myself working through meticulous details, enjoying the process all the same with a more critical eye.
