Artist Bio:
Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, my love for nature began with neighborhood gardens, Phipps Conservatory, and the landscape at Shenley park.
When I moved to Erie after receiving a BA degree with a minor in art education from Mercyhurst University, I became enamored with the beachscapes and woodsy landscape of Presque Isle. Neighborhood gardens as well as my own garden continued to be an inspiration for my work.
As an artist I try to capture and convey the feeling that I get from the beauty that I see in nature. Atmosphere, light, shadow and depth are the main focus in my work that ranges from real to abstract. Some of my favorite subjects include flowers, landscapes, seascapes, and still life as well as figure drawing and painting. The media I use varies from watercolor, acrylic, oil, mixed media and stoneware clay.
Two of my favorite artists’ quotes:
- “Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.” -Andy Warhol
- “I decided that if I could paint that flower in a huge scale, you could not ignore it’s beauty.” -Georgia O’Keeffe
